Sami won the Reserve Bitch CC at the Houndshow on 14th July 2018 under breed specialist judge Mrs Linda Anderson (Sisu).

Ch Valokki Helmi passed away on 7th July 2018 at the age of 15 years and just over 9 months.  She was born on 4th October 2002 and was one of 6 puppies in our first litter born to Hilla and Parri.  She was our first Valokki Champion.  We believe that she was almost certainly the first Finnish Spitz to pass the Kennel Club's Good Citizen Award at the Gold level.  She lived with us her whole life and will be greatly missed.

At the Finnish Spitz Society's Championship Show held on 17th June 2018 at Corley Village Hall, a total of 14 Valokki dogs and bitches were entered!  2 of these were entered 'not for competition' and 2 were absent on the day, but 10 took part in classes at the show.  The judge for the main classes was Mr Gavin Roberson (Soletrader).  Mrs Clare Masters judged the 3 Special Awards classes and 2 Junior Handing classes.  Among the Valokki successes:

Valokki Pipari (Pippa) owned by Christine Dardis & Alun Green took part in her first ever show at the age of 4 years.  She won the Reserve Bitch CC after taking 2nd in the Open Bitch class behind the eventual BIS/Bitch CC winner.

Valokki Sibbe (Pippa's son) aged 15 months owned by Tanya & Mark Cherry took part in his first Championship show (and 2nd show of any kind).  He was Best Junior, Best Special Beginner, and won the Reserve Dog CC.

Valokki Tulikki (Tuuli) was Best Veteran.

Valokki Kielo (Pepper) owned by Kieron and Stacey Wells was Best Post Graduate and 1st in the Special Beginners Bitch class.

Valokki Sini (Roxy) owned by Richard Harries and Emilia Grabarz was Best Novice and 2nd in the Special Beginners Bitch class.

Valokki Sampo (Sami) owned by Christine Dardis & Alun Green was 1st in the Junior Bitch class.

Valokki Kastehelmi (Tilda) was 1st in the Limit Bitch class.

Valokki Amalia was 1st in the John Blaber Memorial class and 2nd in the Special Vintage Veteran class.

In the Griselda Price Progeny class, 7 Valokki girls and 1 boy took part!  Pippa with son Sibbe and daughters Roxy and Sami won the class.  Valokki Venla Sisko (Venla) with daughters Kuura, Pepper, and Tilda were 2nd.

in the Brace class, two mother and daughter braces spanning 4 generations from almost 13 years to 15 months took part.  The younger pair of Pippa and Sami were 1st.  Their older relatives Amalia and Tuuli were 2nd.

In the Team class, 3 Valokki girls - Amalia, Tuuli, and Tilda - were the winners.

In the 2 Junior Handling classes, 3 very promising youngsters took part - 2 of them in their first show.  Lia Dardis Green handling Sami won the class for 6 to 11 year olds,  In the class for 12 to 16 year olds, Ellen Hack with Tilda was 1st and David Cherry with Sibbe was 2nd.

Sami (Valokki Sampo) was Best Puppy in Breed at Crufts on Friday 9th March 2018 under Judge Mr K S Willberg.  She is owned by Christine Dardis & Alun Green and was shown by Irene Slater.

Tuuli (Valokki Tulikki) was 2nd in the Veteran Bitch class.

Tilda (Valokki Kastehelmi) was 2nd in the Limit Bitch class.

At Manchester Championship Show on 18th January 2018, Valokki Sampo (known as Sami) was Best of Breed, Best Puppy, and won her first CC.  The judge was Mr. Graham Hill.

It was a very good day for Valokki dogs at the Finnish Spitz Society's Open Show held on 28th October 2017 judged by Mr Tim Ball (Kaitak).

Valokki Kuura owned by Cecily Byard and Thomas Greer and shown by Cecily was Best in Show, Best Bitch, and Best Open.

Valokki Sampo owned by Christine Dardis and Alun Green and shown by Irene Slater took part in her first show aged 7 months.  She was Best Puppy and Reerve Best Bitch.

Valokki Sibbe (also aged 7 months) owned by Tanya and Mark Cherry was Best Special Beginner and 1st in the Puppy Dog class.

Vaokki Kastehelmi shown by Ellen Hack was Best Novice and Best Postgraduate.

Valokki Venla Sisko owned by Johanna Mortimore was 1st in the Veteran Bitch class.

Valokki Tulikki was 1st in the Linit Bitch class.

Valokki Amalia was 2nd in the Veteran Bitch class.

Valokki Tuliikki and Valokki Amalia were 2nd in the Brace class.  Along with Valokki Kastehelmi they were also shown by Ellen Hack to win the Team class as the only entry.

Sadly we had to say goodbye to Valokki Priska on 31st July 2017.  She lived in Suffolk with Johanna and David Mortimore.  She had one litter of 6 puppies on 10th March 2010.

We are delighted that a litter of 5 Finnish Spitz puppies (4 girls, 1 boy) was born on Saturday 18th March 2017 to Valokki Pipari known as Pippa who is owned by Christine Dardis and Alun Green.  The sire is Valokki Vihtori Veli known as Mika who is owned by Georgina and Allan Honisett.  Please read our Puppy Info and New Litters pages for more information.

At Crufts on Thursday 9th March 2017 judged by Mr Robert Greaves:

Valokki Kuura won Reserve CC after being 1st in Limit Bitch and Good Citizen classes.

Valokki Tulikki (Tuuli) was 1st in Veteran Bitch class.

Valokki Kastehelmi (Tilda) was 1st in Post Graduate Bitch class.
