Late on Tuesday 20th April 2021, Tilda (Valokki Kastehelmi) gave birth to 5 puppies.   All of them are male!  This is a big change from our 4 previous litters born between 2014 and 2019 which had only 3 males altogether out of a total of 15 puppies.  Tilda herself was one of 4 girls  born in 2015 and that was our only previous single gender litter.  Sadly one puppy died after a few days but mother and remaining 4 puppies are doing very well.

We were very sad to say goodbye to Valokki Amalia on Tuesday 9th February 2021.  She was over 15 1/2 years old and had a long and happy life in Ireland, Switzerland, and Holland as well as with us in the UK.  She was born in Lewes and went to live in County Cork at the age of 8 weeks with her owner Theo Hardwick.  She lived there for most of her life apart from visits to stay with us.  In 2015 she went to Switzerland with Theo and Monica.  After leaving there she was in Holland for a short time before coming to live with us permanently in early 2017 for the last 4 years of her life although Theo and Monica came to see her often. 

She had one litter of 2 girls and 1 boy in September 2009.  She also leaves 2 granddaughters and 1 grandson (born to her daughter Tuuli in 2014), and 6 great-granddaughters and 2 great-grandsons (born to Tuuli's daughter Pippa in 2 litters in 2017 and 2019).  We will all miss Amalia very much.

At Crufts on 8th March 2020 under breed specialist judge Stuart Byrne:

Valokki Pipari (Pippa) won the Open Bitch class of 6 and then was judged Best Bitch and won the Bitch CC (her 2nd) for the second year running.

Valokki Suvituuli (Suvi), Pippa's younger daughter, was Best Puppy.

Valokki Sibbe, Pippa's son, won both his classes.

Pippa and Sami are both owned by Christine Dardis and Alun Green.  Pippa was shown by irene Slater in both her class and the challenge.  Sami was shown by Irene in her class and by Lia Dardis-Green in the challenge.  Suvi is jointly owned by Irene, Christine, Alun, and Steffen Kopsch and was shown by Irene,  Sibbe is owned by Tanya & Mark Cherry and was shown by Mark.

It was a very successful day for 3 Valokki girls and 1 boy at Manchester Ch show held on Friday 17th January 2020.   Under Norwegian judge Mr. Espen Engh:

Valokki Sampo (Sami) was 1st in the Limit Bitch class, won the Bitch CC, and was then judged to be Best of Breed!  This was her 2nd CC and her 2nd BoB - the previous ones were also at the Manchester Show in 2018.

Valokki Pipari (Pippa) - Sami's mother - was 1st in the Open Bitch class and won the Reserve Bitch CC.

Valokki Suvituuli (Suvi) - Pippa's daughter / Sami's and Sibbe's half-sister - competing in her first show at just under 7 months was 1st in the Puppy Bitch class and Best Puppy.

Sami and Pippa are owned by Christine Dardis & Alun Green.  Suvi is owned by Irene Slater, Steffen Kopsch, Christine Dardis & Alun Green.  All 3 girls were shown by Irene at Manchester.

Valokki Sibbe (Sibbe) - Pippa's son / Sami's brother / Suvi's half-brother - was 1st in the Post Graduate, Limit, and Open Dog classes.  Sibbe is owned by Mark and Tanya Cherry and was shown by Mark at Manchester.

Pippa is now caring for her 3 puppies (2 girls, 1 boy) which were born on the longest day 21st June 2019.

We are expecting puppies to be born in mid June 2019.  Both parents are this year's Finnish Spitz breed winners at Crufts.  Mother is Pippa (Valokki Pipari) who was Best Bitch and Good Citizen Bitch.  Father is Björn (Björn Kulta-Poika of Storm Valley) who was Best of Breed, Best Veteran, and Best Dog.  More information is on our New Litters page.  Please also read our Puppy Info page prior to contacting us.

Several Valokki dogs did very well at Crufts on 9th March 2019!  Under breed specialist judge Mrs Alison Piearce:

Pippa -owned by Christine Dardis and Alun Green and shown by breeder Irene Slater - won the Post Graduate and Good Citizen Bitch classes. We are delighted that she was then judged to be Best Bitch and won her first CC.

Sibbe (Pippa's son) - owned and shown by Mark Cherry - won the Post Graduate, Limit, amd Open Dog classes.  He was then judged to be Reserve Best Dog and got his 2nd Reserve CC (in his only 2 shows).

Sami (Pippa's daughter) - owned by Christine Dardis and Alun Green and shown by breeder Irene Slater - won the Limit Bitch class.

Tuuli (Pippa's mother) won the Veteran Bitch class.

Kuura - owned by Cecily Byard and Thomas Greer and shown by Cecily - was 2nd in Open Bitch and Good Citizen Bitch classes.

Valokki Sampo (known as Sami) owned by Christine Dardis & Alun Green has been confirmed by Our Dogs newspaper as Top Finnish Spitz Puppy for 2018.

Valokki Kastehelmi (Tilda) won her 2nd CC at the Finnish Spitz Club's Championship Show on 6th October 2018  under judge Mr. Stuart Mallard.  She was also Reserve Best in Show.

At City of Birmingham Ch show held on 31st August 2018, Valokki Kastehelmi (Tilda) won her first CC under judge Mrs Jill Peak.  Valokki Pipari (Pippa) also won her second Reserve CC.
